Only those willing to take risks agree that Artificial General Intelligence should be built
I continue to work on my next book Thinking Machines, Pondering Humans.
Today I worked with general risk question data. Pause here and ask yourself how you would respond to the general risk question:
How do you see yourself: are you generally a person who is fully prepared to take risks or do you try to avoid taking risks? Please choose a number, where the value 0 means: ‘not at all willing to take risks’ and the value 10 means: ‘very willing to take risks’.
As part of my 2024 survey on the topic of Artificial General Intelligence, I asked 501 American adults the above.
Today I looked at the relationship between willingness to take risks and attitudes toward AGI.
I find that middle orange line very interesting: On average, among American adults in 2024, only those willing to take risks agreed that Artificial General Intelligence should be built.
